The Emerald Coast
Granada is a beautiful colonial town that is filled with busy markets selling everything from clothes to fresh local fruit and vegetables every day and night. The area around Granada offers the serene beauty of Lake Nicaragua, the majestic Mombacho Volcano, charming White Towns, and the simmering Masaya Volcano. We squeezed in an entire day hiking, boating and viewing the volcanos, capping the evening off to watch the glowing lava of the very active Masaya Volcano.
When it came time to decide where to stay, it was no contest. Rancho Santana, aka “The Ranch,” is a world-class resort and residential community located on 2,700 acres of Nicaragua’s pristine Emerald Coast along the Pacific Ocean. Las Cinco Playas in Spanish, Rancho Santana’s five beaches include surfing hotspots, sand surfing, and remote swaths of sand. This luxurious oasis offered an enriching experience filled with adventure, relaxation and tremendous Nicaraguan hospitality.

The property has 5 beautiful beaches with epic surf breaks, horse stables, biking trails, a spa, yoga studio with gorgeous views, and unforgettable sunsets. There’s also a golf course nearby w a signature David McLay Kidd 18-hole course that ends at the beach with spectacular views. The golfers in the group are still raving about their golf round along the Pacific Ocean.
